황금 나침반. 환타지물의 대명사라 할 수 있는 작품이다. 총 3부작으로 이 책은 그 3부작중에서도 제 1권. 비록 소설로 읽어보지는 못했으나 나에게 환타지의 최고를 보여주었다. 영화로 보았을 때에도 충분히 훌륭해 직접 글로 읽어보면 참 좋겠다는 생각이 들었다. 그러나 한글보다는 영어로 읽어보는 게 더 좋지 않겠냐는 어머니의 제의에 한 번 읽어보기로 했다. 그러다가 3부까지 모두 질러버렸고, 의외로 얇은 줄 알았으나 어려운 한글책만큼의 분량에 입이 쩍 벌어졌다. 그렇지만 그 전에도 영어책을 열심히 읽었던 덕분인지 의외로 술술 넘어갔다. 물론 걸린 시간은 엄청나게 길었지만 말이다. 아마 몇주를 이 책을 읽기위해 투자했을 것이다...(물론 몇 주일을 모두 읽는데 투자한 것은 아니다. 이 두꺼운 책을 읽기 싫어서 며칠동안 멀리하기도 했기 때문이다.)그럼에도 불구하고 영어책으로 읽는 것만으로도 나에게 충분한 기쁨이 되었었다.

이 책을 읽고나서는 바로 해리포터를 읽어볼 계획. 물론 2권, 3권도 약간씩은 기대는 하지만 아직까지는 너무나 두꺼워서 먼저 해리포터부터 도전해보아야겠다는 생각이 들었다. 그렇지만 아직까지 다 읽지 못했던 황금나침반을 먼저 읽어야 하는법! 어려웠으나 막상 다 읽었을 때에는 행복감이 온 몸 가득으로 밀려들어왔다. 어려운 책 한 권을 끝낸 기분이 이런 거였구나, 하고 오랜만에 느껴보았다.

Do you want to know the story? Well, I know almost of you know what this story about. But I can explain this, This story is about Golden Compass, of course! The Golden Compass is the map. Only someone can use this, and Lyra is that. Lyra, the cute girl. But she is orphan. She live in the university, who her uncle work there.

The story's start was this. Lyra's uncle, Lord Asriel found Dust in the North Pole. Dust is a thing that can make to go to the other world. You know, our world doesn't have Daemon, but in Lyra's world, there is Daemon. Almost are same but In the other world, there have some different.

And Lyra's advanture start by Mrs. Coulter. Mrs. Coulter is a beautiful woman, but she going to steal Lyra's Golden Compass. Golden Compass can teach you everything what you want. So many people want to have this. Mrs. Coulter is one of them, too. A precious thing must in kind people's hands. Like if nuclear bomb is in the Bad's hand, it can kill all of the people. Even it can destroy the earth. It is same! If the Golden Compass in the bad's hand, It can give the world only disaster.

I have a question! Why people oposition at Dust? They know it is existence, but they don't want to identification at that. I can't understand. Even now there is a lot of precedent like that. Christian and the others fight and don't identification at the other. We must realize cooperation and understand is the only to live.

I didn't understand all the story, but I want to read the next book. It's not false, real! Because I love all of the book. Parents says eat all the food, and we must read all the book, too!(Except bad books.) What is happening, now? What is the next story? Will the Golden Compass will in the Bad's hands? Only the reader and writer know that!

늑대인간 스튜의 인간 도전기

사람이 만들어낸 늑대인간의 모습은 보통 평소에는 인간이었다가 보름달을 보면 잔혹한 늑대로 변한다. 그러나 스튜는 다르다. 그는 본 스칼펠 박사의 껌을 씹고 늑대가 되어서 오직 달이 떴을 때에만 인간이 될 수 있었다. 그런 스튜는 이번에 마을의 양 실종 사건의 범죄자로 누명을 받고, 결국 스튜는 이 모든 누명을 벗고 다시 인간이 되기 위하여 중대한 계획을 짜기 시작한다!

Stu is the most dangerous monsters in the Mon Staire Manor, but he is the sadest monster in the world. When he was became a Wolfman, other monsters bother at him. Not bother, yes, wolf man Stu was bother at everone. But I think he is very poor. Others know wolfman is a sad thing. He must eat, if doesn't he do, he became a man. He was a person, too.

It's okay, Stu. There is a lot of were in the world. Wereduck, Werewolf, Werebear, Weretiger... You just a monster in the world. Don't be sad! Wereduck is more poor!

본 스칼펠 제 3권. 매일 아침 영어책 한 권씩 읽기를 도전하다보니, 어느새 몬스터 메이너는 금방 읽어낼 수 있게 되었다. 그리고 책 제목을 전부 하나씩 살펴본 결과, 책 하나에 하나의 인물의 이야기를 담고 있었다는 사실을 깨달았다. 1권은 바로 본 스칼펠 박사, 2권은 프랭키, 3권은 비트리스의 형식으로 말이다. 이번 편은, 깨끗함과 고요함을 좋아하는 엉터리 마녀 비트리스의 이야기였다.

Do you believe at Wich? Um, I believe at U.F.O, But I don't believe at witch. There was a bad history about witch. At the Middle Ages, the church made to kill the witch, and the people must to follow that. And than, a lot of common people died because of witch hunting. However, Beatrice doesn't connection at the Middle Ages, she is a witch, too. But she can't spell the magic well.

I know quiet is a happy things, but I don't want to be lonesome. When the family of Mon Stair Manor came to the castle, Beatrice thought the room will be messy, but she didn't care. Cuz she knew together is the happiest thing!

I think change is not good for you. But I mean don't be silly. You know, you must change yourself, but sometimes change give you just bad. When Beatrice try to make the Monster get out of the house, She lost her servant Fred. We should know what is good for us and what isn't good for us.

몬스터 메이너, 본 스칼펠 박사의 몬스터 제조 이야기. 이번에는 매우 흥미롭게도 집안일 하기를 좋아하는 천하장사이자 안타깝게도 콩알만한 뇌를 가지고 있어 그리 좋은 머리를 가지고 있지는 않다. 그러나 신기하게도 매우 노래를 잘 하는, 노래 세계에 신드롬을 가져다주는 성대를 가지고 있던 프랭키! 이번에 본 스칼펠 박사는 돈을 벌기 위하여 프랭키를 수단으로 새로운 방법을 이용한다!

Well, I don't really like the money like people. Like Von Scalpel. He used Frankie to earn his money, and it was his fault, he used all the money to make a new singer like Frankie, and he was foolish, so he lost all the money!

I know Dr. Von Scalpel is very strange, but he sometimes cute! He is very little, and like a Franny. Oh, who is the Franny? Franny is a small girl who like a mad scientist like Von Scalpel. But Von Scalpel usually make new monsters like Helmut.

I thought this story was very difficult, but now I'm not. I'm going to read the next story of Von Scalpel. So I hope that Von Scalpel invent a new great things. 

Twits- the ugliest, the worst people in the world

로알드 달의 재미있는 이야기중의 한 편인 트위츠. 아마 세상에서 가장 추남, 추녀인 부부를 꼽으라면 나는 이제 트윗 부부를 뽑겠다. 트윗 부부가 얼마나 고약한지는 말로 설명할 수가 없다. 그들은 막상 부부이면서도 서로를 골탕먹이는데만 골골하며, 트윗 부인은 매우 아리따운 처녀였으나 결혼하고 나서 거의 마녀 수준으로 변해버렸다. 트윗 씨는 표지에서 볼 수 있듯이 오랫동안 깎지도 않은 매우 끔찍한 몰골을 하고 있다. 그들이 서로에게 일을 벌이며 해코지하는 그런 모습을 담은 재미있는 책. 읽으면서 배꼽빠지게 웃겼던 정도였다.

If you meet the Twits, You must to run away, because they hate people very-very much! And their ending was too sad! Yes, they were catched the animals, and monkeys opened the all cage, and the Twits go strange. At the end, they were opposite, and they were sink to the ground.

Do you like Twit? I'm sure when you read this book, you can sometimes like them, but if you meet with them real, they will bother at you. And can I tell the happened to the Twits? Oh, it's very terrible.

Mrs.Twit did a horrible happened. She catched the big worms, she put the worms in his husband's spaghetti, and the spaghetti was moved, Mr.Twit ate that, and Mrs.Twit laughed very much. I know retaliation is very sweet, but it's very bad accident! I will not do that, ever!
