■ 작품 소개

국가는 인류가 공동생활을 하면서 자연스럽게 출현한 조직입니다. 국가란 사회의 공익을 위해 구성원들을 조직하고 통제하는 보괄적인 정치조직입니다. 플라톤은 국가를 사회 전체의 구성원들을 지배하는 강제적인 조직으로서 사회 정의를 실현하는 도구로 보았습니다. 플라톤의 <<국가론>>은 ‘국가 혹은 정의에 대하여‘라고도 합니다. 이 책은 플라톤의 나이가 중년일 때 쓰여졌는데 이 당시 플라톤의 관심사항은 "정의란 무엇이고 그것은 인간 삶에 있어서 어떠한 의미를 가지고 있는가"라는 물음으로 관철되어 있었습니다.
