햇빛에 바래면 역사가 되고, 달빛에 물들면 신화가 된다 했던가요(이병주, 『산하』). 서양 문명의 두 기둥을 헬레니즘과 헤브라이즘이라고 할 때 '그리스 로마 신화'는 그 중에서도 헬레니즘의 기저를 이룹니다. 따라서 '그리스 로마 신화'에 대한 이해는 서양의 사고와 문화에 접근하기 위한 입구라 할 수 있을 것입니다.

이윤기 선생님의 '그리스 로마 신화'야 워낙 정평이 나있으니 길게 말씀드리지 않아도 되겠지요. 충실한 해설과 풍부한 원색 도판이 서로를 돕습니다. 분량이 상당히 방대합니다.
