저자 소개

귀스타브 플로베르(Gustave Flaubert, 1821년 12월 12일~ 1880년 5월 8일)는 프랑스 출신의 19세기 소설가입니다. 의사의 아들로 루앙에서 출생한 플로베르는 10세쯤 되어서부터 소설●희곡 등을 쓰기 시작했으며, 파리 대학에 다니던 중, 간질과 비슷한 증상의 발작을 한 후로 문학에 힘을 쏟았습니다. 1856년 발표한 《보바리부인》은 프랑스사실주의 문학의 대표작이라고 할 수 있습니다.
