스탕달(Stendhal,1783년 1월 23일 - 1842년 3월 23일)은 프랑스의 소설가입니다. 스탕달은 필명이며, 본명은 마리앙리 벨(Marie-Henri Beyle)입니다. 프랑스 사실주의 문학의 시조로, 독특한 연애관에 의한 소설 「아르망스」를 써서 문단에 등장했습니다. 최초의 사실주의 소설이라고 불리는 「적(赤)과 흑(黑)」을 써서 왕정복고기의 특권계급에 도전했고, 「파므르의 승원(僧院)」에서는 전제군주에 대하여 날카로운 비판을 퍼부었습니다.
