모리스 르블랑(Maurice Marie Emile Leblanc, 1864년 ~ 1941년)은 프랑스의 추리 소설가입니다. 처음에는 모파상의 영향을 받아 풍속 심리 소설을 썼으나 1907년 도둑과 명탐정의 1인 2역을 하는 괴도 아르센 뤼팽을 주인공으로 하는 여러 편의 추리 소설을 발표하여 세계적으로 유명해졌습니다.

<<수정마개>>는 괴도 루팽 시리즈의 하나입니다. 저자 모리스 르블랑은 19세기 최대의 뇌물 스캔들인 1892년 파나마 스캔들에서 영감을 얻었다고 합니다. 뇌물 스캔들에 연루된 27명의 정치인 명단이 사라지고 명단이 숨겨진 수정마개를 둘러싼 암투가 벌어지는데, 아르센 뤼팽은 자신도 모르는 사이 희대의 정치 스캔들에 휘말려 위기에 처합니다. 뤼팽은 사랑하는 사람과 부하를 구하기 위해 악당 도브레크와 결전을 벌이게 됩니다. 모리스 르블랑은 일상 속에 비밀을 숨겨둔다는 애드거 앨런 포의 단편 소설 <<도둑맞은 편지>>에서도 모티브를 차용했습니다.
