11I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

12I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds."

13Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God?

14You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

15With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

- P100

19Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.

20You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

- P101

The psalmist remembers God‘s past miracles. He considers and meditates onGod‘s works.  - P101

He recalls how God displayed His power among the nations andredeemed His people. He speaks of God‘s power over nature and of how Heled His people like a flock through Moses and Aaron.co - P101

Amid his cries of heartache and pain, the psalmist pauses. By appealing to God’s previous acts of deliverance, he seeks comfort in and deliverance from his current circumstances. - P102

The psalmist does more than simply remember these things, however; he meditates upon them. - P101

Meditation seems to be a lost discipline among many Christians today. We face so many distractions that we must actively choose to slow down and be with God - P102

It is one thing to routinely go about our daily devotions, Bible reading, and prayer. - P102

It is another thing entirely to take time to slow down and be still before our God. But like the psalmist, our souls can draw comfort from reflecting upon God’s mighty works. - P102

Sometimes, the path God chooses for us leads through the sea. It is there,
where we are utterly powerless, that God parts the mighty waters. It is obvious from the mention of Moses and Aaron that the psalmist is referring toGod‘s parting of the Red Sea, where He delivered His people from Pharaohand his armies.  - P102

However, these words of sacred Scripture are not limitedto that one miraculous deliverance. The psalmist is remembering this because he seeks God‘s miraculous deliverance from his present circumstances.
- P102

Could it be that God, at this time in your life, is leading you through a seawhose mighty waters only He can part? If so, rejoice! Your faith is beingrefined and will soon shine like gold. - P102

"In all our hardest wrestlings, we are not bound to the narrow fences of our ownpersonality, our own power, our own past: we are bound to Christ himself."-ScottHubbard - P102

Lord, You are the God who parts the waters. You lead Your people in paths of righteousness, even when those paths go through raging seas. - P103

I praise You for Your mighty works today, tomorrow, and forever. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P103

2 Corinthians 10:5 NLT
[5] We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. - P103

Naturally, thousands of thoughts go through our minds every day. However, what the Bible warns us about is not that thoughts will come knockingon our front door, but rather that we have to be very careful which thoughtswe invite in.

In 2 Corinthians 10:5, Scripture instructs us, "We demolisharguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledgeof God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
How can we take our thoughts captive on a practical level? One way is tobe purposeful about the things we focus on.  - P103

When negative thoughts ariseand we start to feel discouraged or hopeless, we have to remember that wehave a choice in where we direct our minds.  - P103

Today‘s passage is a reminderthat when we choose to focus on the incredible things that God has alreadydone in our lives, our dismay will quickly turn into gratitude and oursorrow into joy. - P103

6I remembered my songs in the night. My heart meditated and my spirit asked:

7"Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again?

8Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?

9Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?" - P97

The psalmist cries out to God in distress. He thinks about the former days andyears and remembers his songs in the night. He wonders if God will rejectforever and never show His favor again.  - P97

He asks whether God has forgottento be merciful or whithholds His compassion because of His anger. - P97

We have all had sleepless nights, times when the crushing weight of life’s crises seems unbearable. We cry out to God in our pain and heartache, but it seems our prayers come crashing down upon us. Though we persist with what the psalmist describes as "untiring hands" (v. 2), we find no suitable comfort. - P98

What can the believer do in times like this? This is where we look to our Lord Jesus on Calvary’s cross for help in our time of need. - P98

Feeling forsaken, He cried out to God. Even in His feelings of abandonment, Jesus addressed the Father as "My God" (Matt. 27:46). - P98

God is still your God even when you feel abandoned, and He has promised not to leave you. - P98

When we don‘t understand what God is doing, honest questions can be a fgood pathway to spiritual growth.  - P98

The Bible is full of raw, straightforward questions that believers throughout the ages have asked God in seasons ofdeep distress. Jeremiah is an example of this. So is Habakkuk. Even Johnthe Baptist had questions (Matt. 11:2-3).  - P98

As followers of Jesus, we arenot called to "fake it till we make it." Such a mindset is a prescription fora shallow faith.  - P98

The psalmist‘s questions are an invitation to take even ourmost complicated questions and doubts to Jesus. We may not always findthe answers we seek, but we will grow in wisdom and faith.. - P98

"God has no night. God has no day. God has no month. God has no year. God has nopast, present, or future. Theologians call this the transcendence of God. He transcendsit all."-Charles Swindoll - P98

We often repress our pain and distract ourselves from our grief. But when we putaway our devices and turn away from our electronic sources of entertainment, wecan experience the Holy Spirit helping us to present our groans to God. Let us fastfrom distractions and exercise faith that God will heal our hearts today.
- Pastor Sam An - P99

Lord, teach me to trust You even in the darkness. - P99

Though at times You seem far away, I know by faith that You are the ever-present God. - P99

May my faith not depend on my feelings or spiritual experiences but on the promises of Your unfailing Word. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P99

Matthew 14:29-30 NLT
[29] "Yes, come," Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. [30] But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. "Save me, Lord!" he shouted.

6At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both horse and chariot lie still.

7It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry? - P92

8From heaven you pronounced judgment, and the land feared and was quiet—

9when you, God, rose up to judge, to save all the afflicted of the land.

10Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.

11Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them; let all the neighboring lands bring gifts to the One to be feared.

- P93

We live in tumultuous times. Wars, together with the pursuit of wealth and power, are wreaking havoc around this world. The "afflicted of the land"
(v. 9), of whom there are many, are crushed under the weight of it all. But a day is coming when the weapons of war will be broken, and those who wield them will be silenced. - P94

Despite the chaos of our world, we can know for sure that the almighty God will one day execute His righteous judgment. The afflicted will be saved, and those who oppress them will be judged. - P94

These things are so certain that the psalmist writes in the past tense, as if they have already taken place. Because God always keeps His word, the justice He promises is as good as done. - P94

The problems in our lives and world often appear insurmountable. Even themost godly and gifted leaders among us seem powerless against them. NotGod!  - P94

Humanity may not have the answers or strength to fix a worldmad, but God does. For this reason, He is to be praised. God‘s wrath againstinjustice is cause for celebration.  - P94

We rejoice in that coming day when theAlmighty will still the raging seas of our violent world. In the meantime,
the psalmist urges us to make vows and bring gifts to our Lord.  - P94

In otherwords, to align our lives with His will and His ways. As we do so, we gainan eternal perspective and a renewed hope for the trials we face. - P94

"Bad news may come, but we won‘t fear because of who God is, not because of whatwe can control."-Courtney Reissig - P94

Jesus, in times of trouble and chaos, may I keep the eyes of my heart fixed on You. There is nothing in this world that can keep me from Your love and grace. Align my heart and thoughts to Your ways. In Your name, amen. - P95

5Throughout my Christian walk, I have always viewed God as a gentle Shep-herd, forgiving and kind. Though this is true, it is not the full picture ofthe God we serve. Today‘s passage is a poignant reminder that God is nei-ther weak nor passive. On the contrary, He is powerful and just, a mightywarrior with no rival. What great comfort this brings! We will face manybattles in our lifetime and we must remember that it is the Lord who fightson our behalf. Exodus 14:14 states, "The LORD will fight for you; youonly to be still."
- P95
