12They must purify themselves with the water on the third day and on the seventh day; then they will be clean. But if they do not purify themselves on the third and seventh days, they will not be clean. - P42

19The man who is clean is to sprinkle those who are unclean on the third and seventh days, and on the seventh day he is to purify them. Those who are being cleansed must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and that evening they will be clean.

20But if those who are unclean do not purify themselves, they must be cut off from the community, because they have defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. The water of cleansing has not been sprinkled on them, and they are unclean.

21This is a lasting ordinance for them. "The man who sprinkles the water of cleansing must also wash his clothes, and anyone who touches the water of cleansing will be unclean till evening. - P43

This passage provides the reason for the cleansing water. Any person who touches a dead body remains unclean for seven days and must purify themselves using clean water with some of the heifer’s ashes mixed in. One everyday example that might help us understand this concept is how we literally wash our hands after handling something that is covered in germs - P44

In today’s passage, the cleanliness God demands concerns more than individual persons: an unclean person can make others around them unclean. Therefore, the Israelites must carefully follow God’s instructions for cleansing and anyone who neglects to do so is cut off from the community. - P44

Under the new covenant, we, too, must be mindful of how we might negatively impact those around us, especially our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

This portion of the Law describes the situations that cause uncleanliness, the purification procedure, and the penalty in case of failure to follow that procedure. The instructions for how to properly apply the ashes are specifically laid out. A man who is ceremonially clean helps with the procedure, but this man also has to ensure that he is clean afterward. Anyone who does not purify themselves is cut off from the community because they are defiling the sanctuary of God. - P44

We are blessed because God sent His Son Jesus Christ to cleanse us by His blood. - P44

We were not able to purify ourselves, but because of Him, we are declared clean. - P44

Those who receive this cleansing from Jesus are purified, but those who refuse this cleansing cannot remain in the presence of the holy God. - P44

Heavenly Father, You are pure and holy. Your Word is perfect, yet I have disobeyed it many times. Cleanse me and purify me so that I may experience the joy and sweetness of living in Your presence. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen. - P44

Israel arrives at Kadesh, where Miriam dies. The people, lacking water, grumbleagainst Moses and Aaron. God instructs Moses to speak to a rock for water,
but Moses strikes it instead. Water flows, but God rebukes Moses and Aaronfor their lack of trust, barring them from entering the promised land. Theplace is named Meribah. - P47

The men‘s feelings and actionsare different based on what they remember and trust. Influenced by histhoughts and trials, the first man forgets why he trusted the provider in thefirst place. The second man, by continuing to remember and trust, keeps hisparachute on and anticipates what was promised. Like the second man, letus not forget God‘s past faithfulness toward us lest we also forget His futurepromises.  - P49

Let us hold fast to Jesus Christ, who died for our sins so that wecould enter into a relationship with Him.  - P49

May we not dwell on doubts butwholeheartedly cling to Jesus who saved us. Even in discomfort, may wewait patiently for God to fulfill His guaranteed promises. - P49

우리는 오로지 복음을 선포해야 합니다. 하나님의 사랑에대해 말하기 위해서는 ‘심판을 이야기해야 합니다. 심판의 두려움은 우리를 멸망시키기 위함이 아니라 하나님께 나아가도록 하기 위함입니다. 그러므로 하나님의 말씀을 전하는 사람의 역할은 분명합니다. "우리의 역할은 그들이 하나님께나아가는 것이 왜 어려운지를 찾아내는 것이 아니라 그들에게 하나님의 진리를그대로 제시하는 것입니다." - P149

God gives instructions on how to make cleansing, water. The ingredientsdisplay red, symbolizing life in the blood. The animal is sacrificed outsidethe Israelite camp with its blood also burned. The ashes are then to bemixed with water to be sprinkled on those who have become ceremoniallyunclean through contact with a dead body.  - P40

This passage reflects the importance of physical and ritual cleanliness before God, but it also foreshadowsChrist‘s sacrificial death on our behalf so that we might become clean.  - P40

Likethe red heifer, Christ is without defect, perfect and sinless. It is the sacrificeof His blood that cleanses us of our sin.  - P40

Just as the priest sprinkled bloodtoward the tabernacle to cleanse the people, we have Jesus as our GreatHigh Priest who cleanses our hearts, granting us access to our holy God. - P40

While the saying can be used to promote good sanitary practices, the concept of being clean is also a crucial aspect of the Christian life. More significant than physical cleanliness, being spiritually clean begs the two-partquestion: what makes you clean and unclean? Addressing the latter, whatmakes a person unclean is found in his or her own heart.  - P45

We can believeourselves to be generally good people, but the dark plague of sin can infectour inner being. Murder, sexual immorality, adultery, and deception arejust a few examples Jesus Christ gives of how spiritually unwell we can be(Matt. 15:18-20).

If we are all unclean because ofSin, then we must know how we can become clean. God makes clear that no number of good words, deeds,
or thoughts alone can wash away the filth we are covered in.  - P45

Our limitedactions cannot cleanse and purify us. Instead, the Bible says that those whoput their faith in Jesus are washed by His blood. Jesus makes us clean. Letus look to Him and rely on His righteousness to purify us. - P45

21˝I give to the Levites all ...

21"I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the tent of meeting.

22From now on the Israelites must not go near the tent of meeting, or they will bear the consequences of their sin and will die.

25The Lord said to Moses,

26"Speak to the Levites and say to them: ‘When you receive from the Israelites the tithe I give you as your inheritance, you must present a tenth of that tithe as the Lord’s offering.

29You must present as the Lord’s portion the best and holiest part of everything given to you.’ - P29

32By presenting the best part of it you will not be guilty in this matter; then you will not defile the holy offerings of the Israelites, and you will not die.’" - P33

The Israelites are no longer allowed to go near the tent of meeting because of their sinful rebellion, and the Levites bear the immense responsibility of not only doing the work at the tent of meeting but also dealing with any offenses they might commit in that holy place. - P34

God tells Aaron that, for generations, the Levites will be different from the other tribes, receiving their inheritance from the tithes given by the people rather than in the form of land. - P34

We see both God’s care for His people and the use of tithing to provide for His servants. May we be good stewards of all He has given us, contributing to the blessing and provision of those who faithfully serve His household. - P34

The principle of tithing is explained in God‘s instructions for the Levites. They receive out of the tithe offerings from the people, but from thistithe, the Levites are also instructed to give one tenth-the best and holiestpart-as an offering to the Lord.  - P34

They should choose the best and holiestpart because God deserves the best that they can give. Even the Levites,
whose wages come from others, are expected to give from what they havereceived.  - P34

Out of the money, time, and resources that are given to us, we areto give a portion back to God as an offering. In this way, we acknowledgeHis blessings and support the work of service to Him. - P34

Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me of the importance of giving. Help me to avoid selfishness and maintain a grateful heart so that I may always give my best back to You. In Jesus’ name, amen. - P34

God instructs Moses and Aaron about the making of the water of cleansing.
A red heifer without blemish is slaughtered outside the camp, its blood sprin-kled toward the front of the tent of meeting. The heifer is burned entirely, withcedarwood; hyssop, and scarlet wool added. Its ashes are mixed with waterfor purifying those defiled by contact with death. - P39

While the majority of the population identify as Christian, many churchgoers practice Zionism, amix of ancestor worship and Christian beliefs.
Prayer Points-Pray for breakthrough in the HIV/AIDS epidemic so families can find physical healing.
