그 순간 우리 모두가 두 가지 강력한 힘, 즉 분열과 몰입 사이에서 하나를 선택할 수 있다는 생각이 들었다. 분열은 우리를 더 작고 얄팍하고 분노하게 만든다. 몰입은 우리를 더 크고 깊고 차분하게 만든다. 분열은 우리를 위축시킨다. 몰입은 우리를 확장한다. 스스로에게 물었다. 조악한 보상 때문에 춤추는 데 주의력을 낭비하는 스키너의 비둘기가 되고 싶은지, 자신에게 정말로 중요한 것을 찾아냈기에 집중할 수 있는 미하이의 화가가 되고 싶은지.
